GRDC levy remains working for grain growers

The GRDC has assured Australian grain growers that the research levy rate is to remain at the current rate. GRDC Chairman Mr Keith Perrett said there are no proposals to increase the GRDC levy rate. “The GRDC is funded jointly by a levy collected from grain growers based on the value of grain they produce and contributions from the Australian Government,” Mr Perrett said.

The Australian grains industry is prepared for the adoption of GM canola

A report endorsed by key grains industry organisations describing the industry’s capacity to use GM canola and deliver market choice, was presented at the Agriculture Australia 2007 conference in Melbourne this week.
The report entitled ‘Delivering market choice with GM canola’ is being provided to each of the Review Panels currently assessing the marketing, trade and economic impacts of the state-based moratoria in South Australia, Victoria and NSW. -
E-Concept Update

Please be advised that the GRDC will resume the acceptance and evaluation of E-concepts, as of the 1st August 2007. The GRDC would like to invite all those with an innovative proposal to submit an E-concept application. The cut off of the next round of E-concepts will be Wednesday 31st of October, assessment to begin Thursday 1st November. For further details on the E-concept process please refer to E-concept within the Applying/Reporting page of the GRDC website.

Prosperity Through Innovation - GRDC Strategic R&D Plan 2007-12

Key drivers of change in the next five years for the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) include water availability, productivity growth, grower terms of trade, grain market dynamics, customer expectations and farm demographics.
GRDC Board Chairman Terry Enright emphasised that the GRDC’s fourth five year strategic plan, “Prosperity Through Innovation”, would encourage stakeholders and research partners to meet clearly defined performance measures and outcomes so that growers could adopt technologies and practices to remain globally competitive. -
Stripe Rust Management in Wheat

The project team, consisting of Chris Duff, Delta Agribusiness, Peter Hamblin, Agritech NSW and Nick Poole, FAR NZ, conducted stripe rust trials for three years and produced data that was seen as of immediate benefit to the grains industry in Southern NSW.

NVT Trial Results
