Grains Industry Development Awards (IDA)
The GRDC Industry Development Awards (IDAs) are specifically targeted at groups of Australian graingrowers for study tours or other forms of training approved by the GRDC. The aim is to develop new skills, build relationships and acquire new information that will contribute to building a sustainable and profitable grains industry.
GRDC places a high priority on the dissemination and communication of knowledge gained from the experience offered through the IDA.
The GRDC invites and assesses Industry Development Award applications twice a year. The next two closing dates are:
• Friday 29 August 2008 (for study undertaken between December 2008 and June 2009, and
• Friday 27 February 2009 (for study undertaken between June 2009 and January 2010),
Applicants are required to use the GRDC’s Word 2000 IDA template. This form can be completed on any IBM compatible PC with Microsoft Word 2000 (or a later version) or any word processing software that can convert from Word 2000. When the application is complete, the GRDC will require ten (10) signed copies (A4 size, double sided, stapled) to be submitted which will then be distributed to each member of the IDA evaluation team. These must be forwarded to:

Both the hard copies and electronic copy must reach the GRDC by 5pm on the closing date.
Applications will not be acknowledged upon receipt.
Applicants will be notified of the decision within six (6) weeks of the application closing date.

Guidelines
IDAs may be for study tours or training within Australia or overseas or for other purposes approved by the GRDC.
Support will be for up to six months and will not exceed $15,000 ex GST per award.
Selection Criteria
The main criteria used in evaluating IDA applications include:
• the quality of the project and its relevance to grains industry needs
• the track record of the group/applicant
• scope of the learning objectives, and
• scope of the proposed communication plan.
Reporting Requirements
If successful, a list of confirmed participants must be provided to the GRDC two weeks before the activities described in the application commence. If the number of confirmed participants is less than that proposed in the original application, the GRDC may require part of the award to be returned.
Successful applicants must also submit, to the GRDC, a Final Report within one (1) month of the study tour / training completion date.

You are also required to forward to the GRDC, as soon as possible (and, in any event, within 3 months) following the completion of the activities described in the application, a statement of expenditure of the funds certified to be true and correct by a representative who is authorised to sign financial statements (the template for this statement can be downloaded at Form C).
Failure to meet reporting requirements may impact on future funding opportunities provided by the GRDC.
Payment of GRDC Industry Development Award
Successful applicants will receive 75% of the approved funding up front. The remaining 25% will only be paid once all reporting requirements have been met, including the submission and approval of a Final Report and Form C.
